Difference between perfume or perfumed water or cologne
Difference between perfume, perfumed water, and cologne? Have you ever wondered what does it mean? Take a look with us now.
You must have already come across the labeling of various fragrances, for example, “Parfum, Eau De Parfum”, “Eau De Toilette”, and “Eau De Cologne”. These abbreviations come from the French designation of the individual types of fragrances that you can buy.
The perfumes themselves are distinguished according to the percentage representation of the intensity of the scent. Technically, this intensity is called a perfume composition. The most intense, i.e. the strongest, scent of the mentioned designations is of course “Parfum”, i.e. perfume.
According to the share of essences of aromatic substances (in percentages), individual fragrances are divided as follows:
- Parfum – Perfume: 15-40% essences of aromatic substances
- Eau de Parfum (EDP) – Perfumed water: 8-15% essences of aromatic substances
- Eau de Toilette (EDT) – Toilet water: 4-8% essences of aromatic substances
- Eau de Cologne (EDC) – Cologne toilet water: 3-4% essences of aromatic substances.
And how to choose the right perfume or other fragrance?
Probably the biggest mistake is “testing” or “trying” the perfume in the cap (lid), on test paper, or a tampon. The perfume will never smell on your skin like you would smell it in this kind of testing. And why is that so?
Because perfume and every other fragrance will have a different effect on every skin. It depends on the characteristics of the skin, PH, lifestyle, skin nutrition, and of course the user. For that reason, the given fragrance can have a very pleasant effect on some people, but a little strange on others.
Now you know the difference between perfume, perfumed water, or cologne
It is very important to choose the right perfume or fragrance. Because the fragrance itself affects not only the mood of the person who uses this fragrance but also the surroundings. Gentle perfumes and fragrances can improve the mood, but overly aggressive scents can sometimes be unpleasant.
